Nick Chickering - Founder
A graduate of The Thacher School ('60) and
Stanford University (A.B.,'64), Nick Chickering began his real
estate career in 1965 as a mortgage appraiser for Coldwell
Banker and Aetna Life Insurance Company. Following a number of
years working as an officer in smaller corporations, Nick
returned to real estate in 1978, specializing in brokering the
purchase and sale of small businesses. Finding that his
clients wanted to purchase unique ranch properties, he founded
The Chickering Company in 1982, where , with Terry Hundemer,
the two have established the signature ranch brokerage in
California for discriminating buyers seeking to purchase the
best the West has to offer.

Having grown up on a small family farm in the
Sierra Foothills, Terry's interest in the outdoors and land
has always played a big role in his life. After working and
studying a few years in the veterinary field, an offer to join
The Chickering Company was an opportunity he decided was too
good to pass up. Licensed as a real estate agent since 1991,
and broker since 2001, Terry specializes in unique lake and
river properties throughout the West. When not pursuing projects for his clients, Terry spends his free time with his wife and two children. Other interests include biking, fly-fishing, and skiing.

Karen Noack Chickering - Sales-Associate
Karen Noack Chickering is a member of a 5th generation California family who has been farming in the Sacramento Valley since the 1850s. She graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a BA in Conservation of Natural Resources and went on to earn her RN and Masters degree from Yale University. She is an avid outdoorsman, having trekked in the Hindu Kush and the Karakoram Range in Pakistan and Kashmir with a passion for ornithology, hiking and skiing. Karen is married to Nick Chickering and a mother of three.
